Glen Earl Lockhart Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Glen Earl Lockhart was born in Salt Lake City to Betty Rae and Glen B. Lockhart on June 17, 1947. On February 24, 2020 Glen passed away due to complications related to a stroke he suffered in December 2018. Growing up on 9th West, Glen was the oldest child; Sheri, Deena, Brad and Leesa arrived in good time. Glen was fortunate in having his maternal grandfather living in his parents home. This lead Glen to have a lifelong appreciation of birds. Glen often brought wild animals such as a crow, squirrels and rabbits home, and proceeded to raise them much to the consternation of his parents. Glen graduated in 1965 from South High School. In 1966 Glen married Kathie Coffman. Brian was born in 1968, and Mindie followed in 1974. As a single divorced parent, Glen raised his children in West Jordan while working at Tooele Army Depot. He was extremely proud of the independence and self reliance manifested in his children. At Tooele Glen wore many hats. His many positions included being a guided missile mechanic, a technical writer, and instructing mechanics in elementary mathematics. Meeting the love of his life, Z, they married in December of 1989, and enjoyed thirty years of marital bliss. Upon Glens retirement they lived in many locations such as Honolulu, Chicago and Whidbey Island in Washington State. Glen enjoyed woodworking, building Glen and Z’s dream house, investing, and driving Charlie the Tractor. The arrival of his grandson, Riley, was truly a treasured hour in his life. Sadly Glen suffered a catastrophic stroke on his 29th wedding anniversary. In spite of massive attempts at rehabilitation, Glen eventually succumbed. He is missed by all who knew him, and his life was much too short for all who loved him. His Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, March 7, between noon and three at 14264 South School House Circle in Herriman.
