He was born on February 20, 1965, to Donald “Duke” Reid and Joan Arnold Reid in Provo, Utah. Greg married Christa Devlin on December 12, 2002, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Family was the focus of his life. He loved his wife and four wonderful children. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. He served others faithfully and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, influencing many for good during his life. He had a special gift to sincerely ask about others; he was keenly interested in who you were and what you were doing. His love was felt because it was spoken. Greg grew up in Nephi and Cottonwood Heights, the proud son of a basketball coach. He graduated from Brighton High School where he served on the Seminary Council. He served an LDS mission in Cordoba, Argentina and he developed an abiding love for the people there. He graduated from the University of Utah in marketing and communications, but he always said he had more credits from BYU. He enjoyed a distinguished career at American Express for 35 years. He recently served as the Director of HR Business Systems Support. He was a dedicated worker and received several awards for his excellence in leadership and business. Greg loved chips and salsa, Diet Coke, and taking trips with his family. He loved playing anything with a racket and was secretly a talented clogger. Like his father Duke, he loved working in his immaculate yard. He ultimately embraced an unexpected friendship with his family’s dog, Ollie. He was an intimate father and loved watching his children in basketball, dance, lacrosse, student government, and everything that his daughters and sons enjoyed. On their birthdays, each year, he would pull them aside and tell them about the day they were born and the first thing he noticed about them. Greg will be deeply missed because he was such an important part of his loved one’s lives. He organized many family reunions because he loved his family heritage. He will forever be tied together with those he loved. Motivated by his love for the Lord, he often said: “we need to see others as He does.” Greg is survived by his wife Christa; his children, Sydney, Austin, Camryn, Walker; his mother, Joan; his parents-in-law, Rick and Sandy Devlin; his siblings, Stephanie (Kirk) Nielson, Todd (Debbie) Reid, Gary (Wendy) Reid, and Alison (Spencer) Tueller; and his nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at the Draper Meadows Stake Center (573 East 13800 South, Draper, UT). A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the same Draper Meadows Stake Center location. Last Thanksgiving, Greg shared these thoughts with all his family and friends: I’m grateful for my tribe; grandparents, parents, in-laws, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We’re far from perfect, but you’d be hard pressed to find a more loving group of people—and “who has more fun than we do?” We’re all different with our unique strengths and weaknesses, but unified in our dedication to family and watching out for each other. I’m so thankful for their examples and influence for good in my life. #givethanks Please share a memory about Greg at serenityfhs.com.
