Harold Joe Hideo Tominaga

Salt Lake City – Harold Joe Hideo Tominaga passed way peacefully at his home Monday, July 17, 2017. He was 95 years old. Harold was born April 24, 1922 in Shelley, Idaho to Daijiro and Nobu Tominaga. He was the 5th of 10 children. His family farmed in southeastern Idaho and he graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1942. He served in the army in Germany during World War II with many extraordinary Japanese Americans. After his military service, he farmed with his brother, Frank, in Pingree, Idaho and then moved to Salt Lake City and was employed by the Tooele Army Depot working as an automotive mechanic. He married Nobuko “Notch” Onishi March 16, 1961. He retired from Tooele Army Depot after 30 years of service as a supervisor in the Automotive and Maintenance Dept. After retirement, he invested in real estate and stocks and bonds. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife “Notch”; three brothers Tokuzo, Sam, and Joe; two sisters Mary (Ken) Shiozaki and Betty (Frank) Yamashita. He is survived by three brothers Frank (Blackfoot, ID); Jack (Fort Collins, CO); Fred (Salt Lake City) and one sister, Susie Sato (Anaheim, CA) along with many nieces and nephews. A Celebration Of Life Memorial will be held, August 19th at 12:00 noon at the L.D.S. Grandview 1st Ward located at 2930 South 2000 East in Salt Lake City, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals On Wheels. A special thank you to all his neighbors and friends who helped him over the years since he did not have any children. Arrangements are being handled through Serenity Funeral Home Services in Draper, Utah.
