Hazel Ann Varden
April 1, 1926 - March 13, 2015
Ann Varden, surrounded by her loving family, entered into eternal life at Salt Lake City, Utah on March 13, 2015 following a brief illness. She was born April 1, 1926 in Byers, Colorado to George and Carrie Mae Kelley. She had three siblings, Virginia, Van and Betty. She had been a resident of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico since 1973. Ann went to nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Denver and received her RN. She married George Bristol and raised three children in Laramie, Wyoming. They divorced in 1968. Ann married Ed Varden in 1972 in Saratoga, Wyoming. Ed was a PGA Golf Professional in Wyoming (Saratoga, Green River, Pinedale and Dubois) during the summer, with Ann running the Pro Shop, and they spent winters in New Mexico playing golf and bridge. It has hard to say which she loved more, probably bridge. She was always looking for a bridge game. She also enjoyed NBA basketball. Her favorite team was the Lakers followed a close second by the Utah Jazz. Ann is survived by her daughters Chris Case (Win) of Olympia, Washington, and Margaret Miller (Earl) of Salt Lake City, son Frank Bristol (Patty) of Laramie Wyoming, 7 grandchildren – DeDe Forwood, Brian Forwood, Jason Miller, Kelley Case, James Case, Kyle Bristol, Caleb Bristol, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, her parents, and her siblings. She will be missed by all who knew her. There were be a memorial service held in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on April 11, 2015.
