Herman Gustav "Mike" Fuessel Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Herman Gustav “MIKE” Fuessel was reunited with his eternal mate Cleo on the morning of September 21, 2014. Mike was born in a farm house in Thrall, Texas, March 28, 1923 to Herman Otto and Auguste Helena Moehnke Fuessel. He was the oldest of 3 sons and a daughter born to them and had an older half brother Wilmer (Slim). His younger brothers Erwin, Alvin (Bobby) and sister Elnora (Suzy). He grew up on a farm in Thorndale Texas. Mike joined the Army Air Corp and was stationed at Camp Kearns, Utah with the assignment of drill instructor. This is where he, on a blind date, met Cleo. They were married October 6, 1945 and later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 19, 1968. Mike is survived by his two sons, Michael Russell (Eileen) and Terry Herman (Teri). He has 6 grandchildren, Kimberly, Natalie (David), Greg (Shasta), Eric (Cynthia), Dianna (Benjamin), Maria (Jeffery) and Kenton. He also has 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents and siblings, Mike earned a living driving semi trucks across the nation’s highways. He worked for Interstate Motor Lines (IML) for over 30 years then also drove for Jimmy Clark Trucking and Bird Trucking. Mike enjoyed driving and would often take day trips with Cleo when he was in town. He also enjoyed fishing with his family and his brother and sister in-law, Lenard and Lorraine Tranter. He spent many a day on the local reservoirs. His family would like to thank the staff at the William E. Christofferson Salt Lake Home for Veterans for their loving care of Mike during his last days with us. They would also like to thank the staff and residents at Olympic Ranch Retirement Center for their love and friendship Mike so enjoyed for the last 7 years. A viewing will be held Saturday September 27, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Serenity Funeral Home, 12278 Lone Peak Parkway, #103, Draper Utah, then followed by a private family service at Mountain View Memorial Estates.
