Joan Humphries Buchanan (1937 - 2017) Joan Humphries Buchanan, 80, passed away on September 25, 2017, at her home in South Jordan, Utah. Joan was born, the eldest of nine daughters, on July 27, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ray B. and Charlotte Humphries. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-¬day Saints. She loved reading her scriptures every morning at breakfast with Dad. Among her greatest experiences were being able to serve two missions with her sweetheart. She had an unwavering testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and that His atonement was personal for her. She had a passion for serving others, family, friends or even a stranger. She found many ways to reach out and serve others through simple acts of love. Mom loved to read, because it allowed her to travel and experience things that her health had limited. She loved the pretty things in life, flowers, beautiful music, crocheting, and painting…not to mention, she was the Queen of Skip-Bo. She will be missed by her family and all that knew her. Joan is survived by her husband, G. El Ray, of 60 years; children, Teresa (Byron) Bateman, Troy, Mike (Rashelle), Kathy (Jeff) Clark, Amy Buchanan (Ramiro “Melo” Flores) all of Utah, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-¬grandchildren, and a large extended family. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Joel and Bryce, daughter-in-law, Janet, 2 grandsons, 1 great-grandson, sisters, Paulette Burt and Barbara Hester. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday, September 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Country Park 1st Ward Building, 11251 South 2700 West, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings to be held at the same location Thursday, September 28, 2017, 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral, Friday at 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery, Murray, Utah,
