John Dean Winterrose
November 9, 1926 - May 31, 2016
John (Jack) Winterrose, passed away on May 31, 2016, in Clearfield, Utah. He was born November 9th, 1926, in Heber City, Utah to John G and LaPreal Mitchell Winterrose. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and was assigned to a troop ship as a baker. After the Navy he came back to the Heber Valley and did various jobs for Ashton’s like delivering heating oil and installing furnaces. He was a member of the Carpenters and Cement Masons union at which time he was a part of the building of the Interstate System throughout most of Northern Utah, building bridges. He also worked for Jay McDonald at McDonald Mill in Layton for 25 years at which time he finally retired at the age of 81. He also loved to go fishing at Strawberry and all the streams and beaver ponds in the Strawberry valley. He was an active member of the LDS church. He was assistant ward clerk under 3 bishops for the Clearfield 9th Ward. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Audrey Mair, his children, Christine (Bryan) Worley, John M, Jeffrey B, Cathy (Kent) Thomas, 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Rayda, Dora and Geneva, his brother Albert (Ab). Funeral services will be held, Saturday June 4th, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Clearfield 9th ward (838 E 600 S, Clearfield, UT 84015). A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30-10:30, interment will be at the Heber City Cemetery that afternoon. Thanks to the Davis Medical center staff, and the staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice for making the transition peaceful.
