José Rodríguez Alvarez falleció el 5 de enero de 2019 en Bountiful City, Utah. Nació en la Ciudad de México, México, el 24 de Enero de 1924, sus padres fueron José Rodríguez Vizuett y Dolores Álvarez. Se unió en matrimonio con Lazara Díaz el 28 de Diciembre de 1947. Era el hijo mayor de 8 hermanos y hermanas. Cuando su padre falleció, se convirtió en el apoyo de su familia durantemuchos años, ayudando a educar ysacar a adelante a todos sus hermanos yhermanas. Construyó su propio negocio a los 16 años de edad, haciendo de este un negocio familiar muy próspero en un ambiente de alegría y servicio. Fueun gran líder como Obispo en la iglesia SUD, ayudando a muchas generaciones jóvenes a creceren el positivismo yen fe ayudándoles a obtenersus propios testimonios. Siempre hizo todo lo posible paraalentara los jóvenes yles enseñó a servir con alegría. Organizó los mejores eventos de la iglesia, aprovechando los el increíbles talentos que tenía yademás compartiéndolos con todos. Solía hacer unas piñatas gigantes para la iglesia en la temporada navideña, provocando un gran entusiasmo y diversión para todos. Los jóvenes en nuestro barrio lo admiraban y algunos lo adoptaron como un padre. Incluso los jóvenes de otros barrios sabían que podían contar con él y querían tenerlo como obispo. Recordamos actividades en nuestro barrio donde la mayoría de la estaca asistía a pesarde que no habían sido invitados. La mayoría de estos jóvenes aún lo recuerdan con mucho cariño y respeto. Su creatividad no tenía límites y le permitió cumplir muchos sueños y ayudarnos a cumplir los nuestros. (hijos, nietos y muchos otros que adoptó como propios.) Construyó muchas cosas, incluyendo un hermoso hogar para sus hijos y para aquellos que a veces necesitaban alojamiento. Todos nosotros recordamos haber tenido las mejores aventuras con él, nuestro siempre divertido, alegre papá y abuelo, que siempre estuvo dispuesto a divertirse y al mismo tiempo enseñarnos. El siempre podía darnos consejos con mucho afecto ypositivismo yhacernos ver que en esta vida nada es imposible. En los peores momentos de nuestras vidas, sabíamos que siempre estaba allí, animándonos yrecordándonos que sí podiamos . Una de sus enseñanzas favoritas paranosotros fué "Cada cosa en la vida tiene mil formas de hacerse; si encuentras una, se agradecido porque todavía tienes 999 más". Lo vamos a extrañar mucho, pero recordarémos su ejemplo, amor, humildad, sencillez , alegría, perseverancia, su espíritu aventurero, su creatividad inagotable y muchas otras cosas que aprendimos de él y que nos ayudarán a continuar en esta vida. Mejor padre y abuelo no pudimos haber tenido. El estará en nuestros corazones por siempre, Hasta que nos encontremos nuevamente. José Rodríguez Alvarez passed away on January 5th, 2019 at his home in Bountiful City, Utah. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico on January 24th, 1924. His parents were Jose Rodriguez Vizuett and Dolores Alvarez. He was united in marriage with Lazara Diaz on December 28th, 1947. Jose is survived by nine of his eleven children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the eldest son of eight brothers and sisters. Jose’s father passed when Jose was 16-years-old, and he became the primary provider of the family for many years afterwards. He helped to educate and raise all of his siblings. He started his own business at 16-years-old, creating a very prosperous family business with an attitude of joy and service. He was a great leader in the LDS church, serving as bishop in his home ward. He inspired the youth to grow-up with positivity and faith, helping them to nurture their own testimonies. He always did everything possible to encourage the youth and taught them to serve with joy. He organized the best church events, taking advantage of the incredible talents he had and always sharing those talents with everyone. He used his great creativity to make the best, giant piñatas for the church at the Christmas season, which provided joy and fun for everyone. The youth in our ward admired him and adopted him as a father figure. Even young people from other wards wanted to have him as a bishop. Activities in his ward were attended by most of the stake even if it they were not invited - his activities were that fun! Most anyone who attended these activities remember him, even now, with much love and respect. His creativity had no limits and allowed him to fulfill many dreams and help our family meet our own dreams, including children, grandchildren and the many who adopted him as their own. He built many things, including a beautiful family home for his children, grandchildren and for any who in need of accommodation. Our family remembers the best adventures with our fun and cheerful dad and grandpa. He was always willing to have fun but at the same time teach important life lessons. He could give advice with so much affection and positivity, helping us see that in this life, nothing is impossible. In the worst moments of our lives we knew he was always there, encouraging us and reminding us that, yes, we could. One of his favorite teachings for us was "Everything in life has a thousand ways to be done. If you find one, be grateful, because you still have 999 more.” We are going to miss him very much. We will remember his example, love, humility simplicity, joy, perseverance, his adventurous spirit, his inexhaustible creativity and many other important lessons that we learned from him and that will help us to continue in this life. He was the best father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be in our hearts forever. Until we meet again, Papá and Abuelito. The viewing will be held on January 12 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at the Parkway 1st Ward located at 261 E. Center St, North Salt Lake, Utah; the funeral service will be held afterwards at 12:00pm in the same building. The graveside service will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery located at 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, Utah at 1:30pm.
