Josephine Bauman Durtschi

Josephine Bauman Durtschi departed this life for her heavenly home on February 24, 2016. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She lived a full life of service to family, church, and community. Josephine was born to Frank and Mary Bauman on April 2, 1928 in Driggs, Idaho. On June 16, 1948, Josephine married her hometown sweetheart, J. Ray Durtschi, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Josephine graduated from the University of Idaho with honors and later raised six children. Josephine cultivated her mind and abilities throughout life. She found joy in learning and speaking French, reading, music, gardening, sewing, baking, and playing with her grandchildren. She taught piano for over 20 years. Josephine’s hometown held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed spending much of her later years there with her family. During her lifetime Josephine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many leadership and teaching callings and as “perpetual ward organist”. Josephine is preceded in death by her brother Frank Bauman, husband J. Ray, son David (Jeri) and grandson John Luke Roberts. She is survived by her sister Mary Tingey (Fred), her children, Stephen (Brenda), Don (Bonnie), Kathryn (Hal Roberts), John, and Susan (Randy Rymer); eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Driggs LDS Church (225 North 1st Street) on Saturday, March 5th at 1 PM with a viewing prior from 11:30 – 12:30 pm. Interment will be at the Pratt Ward Cemetery in Alta, Wyoming. Friends and family are invited to share condolences on-line at www.serenityfhs.com.
