Kaloni Lavelua Havea Tu'ifua

February 21, 1964 - June 4, 2016

Kaloni Lavelua Havea Tu’ifua, age 52, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2016 surrounded by many of her loved ones. Kaloni was born on February 21, 1964 in Tu'anikivale, Vava’u, Tonga to Tokilupe (Alatini) Havea & Isikeli Havea. She married Tutoe Kailahi’o Vava’u Tu’ifua on June 16, 1989 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have two children that she loved dearly. Taumafakava Terry Bawden Tu’ifua (Mafa) and Makeleta Annterahca Tu’ifua (Leta). Kaloni lost her parents at a very young age and was taken into the home of Terry and Rhonda Bawden when she was 15. She has been such a blessing to their family as their Tongan Daughter and Sister. She considered them as her parents and brothers and sisters. Kaloni graduated from Granger High School and was so proud of that accomplishment. She went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Little Rock, Arkansas. She loved and always cherished that opportunity. Kaloni has served faithfully as a strong member of her Church. She has served in the Relief Society. She was also considered the “ward baker”, baking beautiful cakes for all occasions before she was even asked. Kaloni was a friend to everyone. She was so easy to love and everyone loved to be around her. She loved to laugh and make others laugh along with her. We will all remember her contagious laughter and miss it tremendously. Even through the many ailments that she had to endure she was always looking toward the future with a positive attitude. One of Kaloni’s great joys was making beautiful cakes, flower arrangements and Leis for Weddings, Funerals, and Graduations. She was so talented. We will miss that talent she was so willing to share with all of us. Our events will not be the same without those adornments. Kaloni is survived by her husband (Tutoe), her children (Mafa & Leta), her daughter in law (California) and grandchild (Sione Ta Piano). She is survived by her 4 brothers and their wives (Sione, Seimoa & Lisa, Una & Amanda, Alama & Hinanui, and Kahekina & Stefanie). She is also survived by her ‘Palangi’ family, (Terry & Rhonda Bawden, sisters and brothers and their spouses, (Terah & Dylan, Chad, Koby & Mandy, Jennica & Will, and Aubrianne & Braden). She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister (Makeleta), Sister in law ( Molimau), many grandparents and extended family members. We wish to thank all family members that helped Kaloni. We also wish to thank the Nurses from the Friendship Village Hospice in Arizona and the Legacy Hospice in Utah, and the many Doctors that she consulted with. Services are under the direction of Peni Malohifo'ou of Serenity Funeral Home The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 11 at the Stake Center located on 4425 West 3300 South in West Valley City.
