Leroy (Lee) Lewis Von Gunten passed away in his sleep on Sunday morning January 2, 2022 in his home. A family graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm, January 11th at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park at Camp Williams in Bluffdale, UT. Lee was born September 29, 1929 to Fredda & William Von Gunten in Akron, OH. Lee was an entrepreneur. He invented the player organ, the Touch Light, EZ shelf system, the Johnny Extra, and the Watch Dog. He preferred to “be his own boss” and run his own companies. He had numerous patents in a variety of different fields over the years. Lee also served honorably in the Air Force and served time in Korea. He married Judy Derrick and together raised five children in suburban Chicago. They relocated to Utah years later to be near grandchildren. Lee is survived by his wife, Judy, and his five children: John (Keli), Erica (Kirk), William (Lisa), David, and James (Rebecca), 17 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Thank you to the staff at Brio Hospice for their excellent care of Lee over the past 20 months while he was on hospice as well as all the love and support we have felt from family and friends.
