August 27, 1958 - January 6, 2020
Lisa Johnson Thomas, 61, passed away peacefully in her home on January 6, 2020 after a nine year courageous battle with breast cancer. She remained amazingly positive, hopeful, resilient, and completely selfless until the very end. Creative, vivacious, and compassionate, Lisa was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 27, 1958. She was the daughter of Dolores Lucille Jentzsch and Lorin Lamar Johnson. A vegan since 2001, she was a true animal lover and cared for her loved ones and companions deeply. After surviving a difficult childhood with abuse, multiple foster homes, and homelessness, she strongly believed in justice and promoted a compassionate lifestyle through animal rescue and veganism. She fiercely protected her children from harm and taught them genuine, selfless love. Lisa and Stan formed a close friendship several years before they were married on December 19, 1981. Lisa loved spending time with her husband, family, and companion animals, particularly watching outlandish scary movies while crocheting and crafting. She was always generous with her time and limited resources. Lisa was a very loving and generous daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived, and greatly missed by her devoted husband and best friend, Stanton Bruce Thomas; along with her children Dexter Mel Thomas, Jason Rudolph Thomas; her daughter-in-laws Natalie Dawn Thomas and Amy Marie Thomas; and her beloved cats and fish. She is also survived by her brothers Steven Jay Johnson, Scott Lorin Johnson, Spencer Jeffrey Johnson, her two grandchildren Bruce Rowen Thomas and Julian Glenn Thomas, her grandpuppy Raimi Thomas, and many grand kitties. Lisa will never be forgotten and she will always be loved. Lisa requested that she not have a funeral, but instead a Celebration of Life and the planting of seeds she chose and said, "the bees will love".
