Lupko Koetje Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lupko Koetje, 81 years of age, returned to his Heavenly Father on December 26th, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born June 15th, 1939 in Groningen Holland to Hendrick Koetje and Janntje Westerbaan Koetje. He came to America with his Mother and Siblings at an early age and they made Salt Lake City their home. He married Florene Tilt in Salt Lake City on July 2nd, 1959. They were later sealed on the Mesa, AZ Temple on June 25th, 1994. Through his life he had enjoyed writing poetry and doing genealogy. He loved his family and was a generous person, often buying items just so he could give them away to his kids and grandkids. He had a few different jobs during his career, including a manager of Kinney Shoes in Denver, Co., but he loved his job working at the Phoenix Country Day school the most. He became like family to the students and the administrators, who always spoke highly of him and his love for the students. He was able to return to Holland, to visit later in life, where he enjoyed seeing family and showing Florene his home country. After retirement they moved to Kanab, UT where he also made many friends. He leaves behind his lovely wife Florene and his three children, Lupko Koetje Jr (Janna) Millcreek, Utah, Carlyle (Bud) Koetje (Cheryl), Mesa Arizona and Lisa Walter (Tim), Mesa Arizona. He was blessed with many Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Christine Schulz. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Jenny and his brother, Jan Koetje. In leu of a funeral, there will be a small family and friends gathering at the Millcreek Ward Church house in Millcreek Utah (3640 E Millstream Ln, Southwest door) on Saturday January 2nd from 11 Am until 1 pm for those who would like to share their condolences. The family would like to thank all of those who have helped in this time of need and all of the friends and family that have gotten to know him throughout his life. The family would also like to thank the Serenity Funeral home for helping with the final preparations and the Millcreek Canyon ward with the luncheon. Though he is no longer suffering and is in a better place, he will truly be missed.
