Marjorie Louise Neilson

On the morning of April 7, 2021, Marjorie Louise Anderson Neilson passed away in Albany, Oregon at age 96. She was born 6-weeks premature on February 6, 1925, in Lewisville, Idaho to Stanley and Lois Anderson. They lived in various places in Utah and Idaho where her father was a coach and principal, before moving to Riverton, Utah in 1940. Marjorie graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah in 1943, and from Brigham Young University with a BA in Education in 1948. She taught at Riverton Elementary School for 2 years in Riverton, Utah, marrying George Edgar Neilson on December 23, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. They spent time living in Lincoln, Nebraska (where her husband graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry); Pacific Grove, California; Rupert, Idaho; and Albany, Oregon. She is survived by sons Erik, Jon (wife Sherry), and Kjel (wife Kitti); and daughters Karla (husband Nick Boren) and Marta; and siblings Karen Hansen and Robert Anderson; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and two daughters Kristie (Goates) and Lisa. Marjorie had a great love for classical music and good literature. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, even when she was 80 years of age. She lovingly took care of her husband who suffered and died from early-onset Alzheimer’s in 1989. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fisher Funeral Home in Albany, Oregon; followed by graveside services on Saturday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at the Riverton City Cemetery in Riverton, Utah.
