Mary Ellen Wirz Dyer, January 18, 1924 to May 8, 2015 With much love, we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Wirz Dyer, our wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Born January 18, 1924 in Broken Bow Nebraska to George Fredrick and Clara Wirz. On Mom’s 21st birthday she joined the U.S. Army, serving in Los Alamos, NM working on the Manhattan Project until the end of WWII. She was truly a member of the Greatest Generation Mom was a member of P.E.O. Chapter AC, a willing volunteer for the many causes she believed in and a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years. Survived by her children, George William Dyer, Christine Ellen (Robert) Murray, Carol Jo (George) Betts and Daniel Lee (Susan) Dyer, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, her brother and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sister, parents, step-mother, grandparents and her great-grandson. A special thanks to Dr. Nikki Switzer and to Silverado Hospice for their loving care. A celebration of life to be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 12 C Street, at 11:00 am. A private internment service for immediate family to be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest donations to the Utah Food Bank or your favorite charity. Please hug someone you love.
