Randol Craig Bond

Randol Craig Bond, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the age of 67. Randy was born in Darmstadt, Germany, on December 9, 1955, the son of Helene Baier and Horst Hilbert. He was adopted by Milton Ellis Bond and Wanda Livingston Bond, and came to the United States with his parents when only a few months old. The majority of his childhood years were spent living in Kaysville and Bountiful, Utah. Randy graduated from Viewmont High School in 1974. He served an LDS mission in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. After returning home, he met his future wife on a blind date, and they saw the first Star Wars movie together. Randy married Cindy LaRaine Johnson on January 13, 1978, in the Salt Lake Temple. Randy graduated from Utah Technical College (now Salt Lake Community College) in March of 1984 with a degree in electronics. He worked for companies such as Micron and Northrup Grumman. He served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including Primary and Sunday School teacher, counselor in the Bishopric, and in the Elders Quorum and High Priests Group. Before meeting and marrying Cindy, he also sang with the Mormon Youth Chorus. Randy was very involved in his community. Because of his interest in space exploration, he was involved with the Solar System Ambassadors. He volunteered his time giving space presentations at schools, to scout troops and at the Hill Air Force Base Museum. He was interviewed by KSL, KUTV and Fox News because of his impressive knowledge about space and his collection of space memorabilia. Randy was also a member of the Northern Utah Mustang Owners Association (NUMOA) and frequently entered his red Mustang convertible in car shows and parades. His favorite show was the Shriner’s Hospital Charity Car Show. Randy also compiled and submitted stories for the book “Saints at War,” by Robert C. Freeman. He initially gathered information about his Uncle Acel Livingston, who died in WWII, then later collected information about his father-in-law and others who were willing to share their stories. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Millton and Wanda Bond, as well as his birth parents, Helene Baier, and Horst Hilbert and his wife, Irene, who Randy was blessed to connect with in his adult life and enjoy relationships with for many years. He is survived by his wife, Cindy; two sons, Nicholas Craig Bond and Adam Seth (Emilee Mae Valantine) Bond; grandchildren, Britnee Kalie Bond, Braxton Craig Bond, Keeli Bond, and Brennon James Bond; a sister, Heidi (Raymond) Elder; as well as biological siblings Claudia (Mike) Belden, Eveline Hilbert and Gerd Hilbert, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Jordan Oaks 3rd Ward, 8117 So. Leslie Drive, West Jordan, Utah. Preceding the funeral, a viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will be at Memorial Estates Mountain View in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
