Randy Stewart Gene Reeder

Randy Stewart Gene Reeder went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 16, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Calvin "Toppy" and Vera Reeder, and his brother and sister, Michael Reeder and Cheryl (Reeder) Bradford. He is survived by his wife Carrie Reeder, children Nathan (Nicki) Reeder and Melissa Reeder (Garin Fons), grandchildren Maddy (Luke) Johnson, Wesley Reeder, Mary Reeder, Owen Fons, and Ethan Fons, and great-grandchild, Evelyn Johnson. Randy was born on June 10, 1949. The youngest of the three children, his childhood was spent on Fort Worth's east side with friends and family. As a senior in high school, Randy met and fell in love with his future bride Carrie (Cowan) Reeder. A wonderful devoted husband, they enjoyed a blessed 51 years of marriage. Randy obtained his degree in business at East Texas State University. After graduating, he spent his entire career working at the family business, Toppy's Architectural Millwork. Randy always said one of his great blessings was getting to work and be with his dad. Randy was an incredible father and grandfather. He was so patient, loving, and kind. We will always remember countless family vacations to the beach and mountains. Playing catch in the backyard. Camping and bike riding together. Penny and Patty stories. And just sitting together and talking. God truly blessed us with the best father and grandfather anyone could hope for. Randy loved people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere, and never knew a stranger. He had so many good and wonderful friends. Friends at church, work, Bible Study Fellowship, and golf. Randy truly loved to golf! But even more than that he loved spending time with people. Randy had a servant's heart. He spent many afternoons delivering Meals on Wheels. He was devoted to the church and spent countless hours serving as a deacon. He enjoyed going out and meeting new people on church visitation. He served as a small group discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship for 11 years. Above all else Randy was a follower of Jesus. He first felt the Holy Spirit tugging at his heart when he was only five years old at a tent revival meeting. Four years later at nine he asked Jesus to save him and was baptized at Meadowbrook Baptist church in Fort Worth, Texas. Fourteen years later God used several adversities in his life to draw him closer so at 23 he surrendered his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. As he wrote in his spiritual journey: "He has never failed me and my walk with Christ does grow sweeter every day." Although we love him and will miss him terribly, we are so thankful that his walk has grown sweeter still, and that right now he is in the presence of his Lord. A celebration of Randy's life will be held at Travis Avenue Baptist Church on June 20, 2024. Visitation is at 11 with a service at 12.
