June 13, 1966 - January 8, 2019
Rebecca Howell Treviño, 52, passed away suddenly, and unexpectedly, on January 8, 2019, in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born, and adopted, June 13, 1966 in Bilbao, Spain. Rebecca was a lover of the great outdoors; hiking, camping, biking & running, at every opportunity. She ran her first marathon at age 50 and ran the Chicago Marathon in 2018. She was a Cub Scout and American Heritage Girl leader and organized, and led, the first all-girl Venture Crew to Philmont and Northern Tier. She was active at Southeast Christian Church and was known for her voice in the Choir and was a cast member in the Easter Pageant for over 15 years. She will be remembered for her joy, infectious smile, kind yet strong spirit, her fight and her love for the Lord. She was a proud graduate, and avid supporter, of Mississippi State University, with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, and married her husband at the Chapel of Memories on the MSU campus. Early last year she moved to Utah, from Louisville, KY, for a great professional opportunity with Nature Sunshine Products, where her husband and her had begun exploring, camping and hiking the many National & State Parks, and had plans to visit many, many more. She is survived and deeply loved by her husband, Nando Treviño, her daughter Sarah Nicole, of Louisville, KY, her two sons, Adam, of Nashville, TN, and Bradford, of Seattle, WA, as well as, her brothers Cary Howell & David Howell, and their families. And was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sarah Howell, and her Mother-in-Law, Bettye Treviño. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Southeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY, on January 18th, at 12:00, with visitation from 10:00-12:00. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to the Parklands of Floyds Fork www.theparklands.org/make-a-donation.html. The donation will assist in the placement of a memorial bench in her name in the park that meant so much to her; as she had walked, ran or cycled all 27 miles, multiple times.
