November 24, 1969 - January 3, 2019
Scott Wayne Swensen passed away on January 3, 2019 in West Jordan, Utah at the age of 49. He was born, November 24, 1969 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rulon W. and Kathy C. Swensen. Scott was raised in Taylorsville, Utah where he had many friends and neighbors who helped to form his character. He attended Vista Elementary, Eisenhower Jr High, and Taylorsville High School. He continued his education at the University of Utah, earning Bachelor of Science degrees in both Medical Laboratory Science and Pharmacy. Scott worked as a pharmacist for over 20 years, and was loved and respected by his patients and work family. He was very giving and generous by nature and found joy in being able to help many children through the ChildFund International Organization. He was especially generous to his nieces and nephews. It wasn’t a party until Uncle Scott arrived, usually with a Super Soaker. We are still looking for Easter Eggs that he hid in the yard. It wasn’t Christmas until we found where he had hidden our stockings. It was not unlike him to make a birthday or holiday special by bringing a “dream come true” gift to his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. After struggling with alcoholism for many years, with the help of Recovery Ways and Alcoholics Anonymous, Scott was approaching his 1 year sobriety. We are so proud of him for his strength and determination in trying to overcome this illness. Scott is survived by his parents Rulon and Kathy; his brother Ryan (Jacque); his sister Kristen (Brian) Bunderson; his nephews Zach, Logan and Zane; and his nieces Emerie, Lauren and Savanna. He is also survived by his faithful dog “Ki” and many other family members and friends. His grandparents Wayne and Eva Swensen & Dean and LaVee Cannon precede Scott in death. We know he is not far away and in the company of his loving family members on the other side of the veil. There will be a “Celebration of Life” for Scott on January 18, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Taylorsville LDS Stake Center building, located at 4845 S. Woodhaven Dr. (1365 West), in Taylorsville, Utah. We invite all who knew and loved him to come and visit with his family and friends. We wish to thank those who have helped us during this sad and difficult time. We have felt your love and prayers. In lieu of flowers, Scott’s family would ask that you would reach out fo a friend, go to a favorite restaurant and talk about the good times with Scott, remember his sense of humor, and ponder life’s adventures. Allow the world to continue feeling of Scott’s generosity by paying it forward. Support a local AA group. Find someone who is struggling and tell them you care. If you desire, you may share memories and condolences at www.serenityfhs.com.
