January 8, 1965 - January 22, 2017
Simione Siotame (Tame) Fili-Tongi, 52 y/o, passed from this life - to the next, on January 22, 2017 in his home in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born on January 8th 1965 in Navutoka, Tonga to Viliami Fili and Kalisi Simulata Fifita. He married Le’o Tukuifale Kinikini in the Salt Lake Temple, sealed for Time & All Eternity on December 14th 1987. They were looking forward to celebrating their 30th Wedding Anniversary this year. He was a gentle giant with a ready smile, a listening ear and earning the title of everyone’s “favorite uncle”. He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He grew up in Tonga and graduated from Liahona High School followed by serving an honorable LDS Mission in the Nuku’alofa Tonga Mission. Shortly after his mission, his family moved to Salt Lake City. He was a long-time resident of the Poplar Grove area. He worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time to provide for his family. He attended classes and eventually earned his CDL (Commercial Driver License). He loved nothing more than being with his family, especially holding and playing with his grand-daughter “Analeiha”. He most enjoyed attending his sons football games and especially serving others – fulfilling faithfully the many callings he held in the church. His life calling was as a Scout Master. He assisted his sons, as well as many young men in fulfilling their requirements to complete their Eagle Scout Award. He learned and was proficient in scouting skills that would help the young men succeed throughout their life. He was an AWESOME FATHER to his 2 sons, teaching them about everything he knew and hoping they would be an example to those they mingled and interacted with. He was a loving & kind husband to his wife of 29 years. He is survived by his spouse Le’o, mother, son Simione (Salote Kalo Motuliki), son Viliami, Grand-daughter Analeiha, sister Laukiangi Amone (Sailosi), Step-sister Saineha Finau (Kimi), as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Viliami Fili, step-father Sione Taufa, step sisters: Waterlily Wolframm (Makanesi) & Liahona Fifita (Sione) as well as his step-brother Feleni Taufa. Thank you to ALL our Family & Friends who have helped us through this difficult time. Tame will be greatly missed by ALL those he loved and ALL those whose life he impacted. WE LOVE YOU ALL!
