Stephen Ray Durtschi

Stephen Ray Durtschi passed on August 20th at his home in Grass Valley, California, after an extended illness. Stephen was born July 8, 1950 in Driggs, Idaho. He was the son of John Ray Durtschi and Josephine Bauman and was the oldest of their six children. He was raised in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Capital High School. He served a two year LDS Mission to France. He graduated from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona in 1982 and practiced as a pharmacist in Arizona and California until his retirement in 2015. Stephen loved the Teton Valley, spending many weeks there throughout his childhood and his adult life. His dream was to return to Driggs to live after his retirement. Stephen played the violin beautifully and always enjoyed a wide variety of music. He had a great love for animals including his many pets: a raccoon, turtle, guinea pigs, geese, goats, and many dogs. Stephen loved his family and friends and was loved dearly by them. He was kind and caring to all he met and worked with. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents and brother David (Jeri), and is survived by his wife Brenda, stepson Caleb Martin, siblings Don (Bonnie) and John (Kirk) Durtschi, Kathryn (Hal) Roberts and Susan Rymer (Randy), aunt and uncle Don L and Ann Durtschi, aunt Jean Durtschi, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Services will be held at the LDS Church in Driggs, Idaho at 225 N. 1st Street on September 8th, with a viewing from 10:00-10:45 am, a memorial service at 11:00 am, and graveside services at the Pratt Cemetery at 12:00.
