Tevita Mapa was born to Siosaia Matekuolava Fakailoatonga Vainuku and Tuli ki Halakakala Kengike Vainuku in the villiage of Kolomotua in the group Island of Tongatapu, Tonga on August 19, 1951. After graduating from San Mateo High School in California, he served a full-time mission in Tongatapu Island for 2 years. Returning to the United State after serving in the Island of Tonga, he attended ITT Tech College and met the love of his life Salome 'Akesiu Mei Hakau Paletu'a, while she was attending LDS Business College. He graduated ITT Tech College and sealed his true love to him for all time and eternity on February 23, 1973 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Tevita Mapa and 'Akesiu agreed to move back to the Island of Tonga 1981 to cared for his inlaws, Tonga Toutai & Luisa Hehea Paletua. For many years he worked for the LDS Church Education in Liahona High School and later retired. He served many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They have 12 children. 6 daughters and 6 sons. Starting from the eldest to youngest with their loving and awesome supportive spouses: Seini Emaile Fakahau (Tevita Fakahau) Tonga Toutai Vainuku Jr (Elizapesi Puamau) Soana Feohimoe’ofa Latu (Siosaia Latu) Tevita Mapa Vainuku Jr (Nunia Leakehe) Lu’isa Hehea Vaka (Samisoni Vaka) Ilavalu Mapa Vainuku (Leila Fakaosiula) *Nukuluve Paletu’a Vainuku *Passed away 06/03/1995* Kaunanga Metuloni Salome Helu (Isileli Helu) Siosaia Fakailoatonga Matekuolava Vainuku (Andie) Losali Taina Maluofi Ki Tonga Angilau (Lemana Angilau) Vikia Sione ‘Inoke Kolipoki Vainuku Salome Losehine Tangiteina Tupou (Sione Matangi Tupou) with 64 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Our beloved father was known as the Mapakaitolo or brother to the King of Tonga, but for this was his purpose; to bring others unto Christ. He loved to serve others and a loyal friend to others. Tevita Mapa is a faithful son of our Father in Heaven and he truly followed our Savior Jesus Christ. God be with you til we meet again, our best friend and loving Father.
