Vanessa Ann Myers
September 13, 2005 - May 20, 2017
West Jordan, Utah – It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Hanson and Myers families announce the death of their beautiful and courageous daughter, Vanessa Ann Myers. Vanessa passed away the evening of Saturday May 20th, surrounded and caressed by those that loved her as she took her last breath. Vanessa’s fight with a rare heart condition, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, began September 13th, 2005. From birth to her last breath she was an angel and an inspiration to anyone who had the pleasure of being a part of her life. She wouldn’t let three open heart surgeries and months of hospital stays get her down, Vanessa always greeted life with a smile on her face and her favorite stuffed animal, Rainbow Bunny in her hand. Vanessa loved to swim and be in the water, so much that she practically had to be dragged out. Her one last wish was not to go on a big trip to Hawaii or to Disneyland, she just wanted to go swimming and eat spaghetti. She had a deep love for animals and a special place in her heart for bunnies, bunnies were all she talked about from the time she got up to when she went to bed. She enriched the lives of everyone that knew and loved her and showed the world and especially her family what toughness really is. This world truly didn’t deserve an angel the likes of Vanessa and as hard as it was for her family to let her go, we know she is with the Lord looking up at him with her piercing blue eyes and that beautiful and contagious smile, making Rainbow Bunny do a little dance from side to side in her hands as he watches and delights in her charm. Vanessa is survived by her father and stepmother, John (Heather) Myers, stepfather and mother Tawny and Sean Hanson, and her siblings Gwen Doner, Adyson Myers and Braylen Myers. Vanessa is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Vicky Gittins-Haning and Marriette Hanson. The Family would like to recognize and extend extreme gratitude to the true heroes of this world, the doctors and nursed at Primary Children’s Medical Center who took care of and loved Vanessa throughout her short life. With a special thanks to her world class heart surgeon, Dr. John Hawkins (deceased) and cardiologists, Dr. Michael Pulchaski and his team that made our amazing 11 years with Vanessa possible. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 24th at 1:00 PM at the LDS Church on 3274 South Hillsdale Drive (2760 West) in West Valley City. Please join the family in celebrating Vanessa’s beautiful life. There will be a private family viewing held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 23rd.
