Viliami Fisi'ihoi "Papa Hoi" Tausinga, 66, of West Valley City, passed away peacefully at home. "Papa Hoi" was born in Leimatu'a, Vava'u, Tonga to Amelia Lile Fonua Tausinga of Leimatu'a and Otto Hamani Tausinga of Otea. He married his sweetheart, Mele Mateitalo Palanite of Pukotala, Ha'apai, and were blessed to seal their family for Time and all Eternity in the Nuku'alofa Temple on December 15th, 1989. Leimatu'a, Vava'u born, Ha'alalo, Tonga raised! "Papa Hoi" and two of his brothers emigrated to Laie, Hawaii in April 1976. He met the Love of His Life, Mele, and they were married on May 25, 1978 before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah where they had their only daughter, Lile, and settled in West Valley City. "Papa Hoi" took a devastating blow when he lost his life-long partner to cancer in July 2003. "Papa Hoi" was the hardest working man with the biggest and loving heart. He was always willing to extend a helping hand to anybody that needed it. He retired in March 2017 after 38 years in the workforce. His straight-forward, honesty is the best policy, if you speak about it, be about it, ways were his life's motto. He worked hard to instill these values in his daughter and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. "Papa Hoi" lived his last 3 years of life in the total care of his daughter, Lile and son-in-law, Metui Mohetau. "Papa Hoi" was an amazing husband, father, grandpa & uncle with the sarcastic jokes! We all miss you dearly, O.G. He is survived by his daughters, Mele Mafile'o Tausinga Nau (Star) and Amelia Lile Tausinga Mohetau (Metui); 10 grandchildren, Palu, Pauliasi, Lavinia, Luke, Mele, Viliami, Fisi'ihoi, Paea Jr., Metuisela, and Tevita-Fetu'u Rawscoe; Brothers, Tevita Fetu'u Tausinga (Kasanita), Nehumi Heilala (Teleni); Sisters, Asena Fusi Ita'aehau (Tevita), Salome Vaimoana Vaenuku (Lini), Hingano Otumotulalo Kivalu (Taniela); many nephews whom he loved like his own, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mele Mateitalo Palanite Tausinga; parents, Amelia Lile Fonua and Otto Hamani Tausinga; brothers, Sione Seluini Tu’itupou and Viliami Taungahihifo Tu’itupou; and grandniece, Hingano Kimatangi Kivalu.
