Alfred "Paul" Glauser

Alfred Paul Glauser, 74, of Draper, Utah, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of April 2, 2026, after spending the previous evening surrounded by his family. Paul was born on January 12, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, to Alfred Junior Glauser and Betty Lee Andersen. He spent his early years in Portland as well as Uganda, Africa. His upbringing helped shape his love of learning and his appreciation for people and cultures. Paul married the love of his life, Vickie Katherine Huntwork (born Ezra), on August 9, 1974, in the Oakland, California Temple. They’ve been married for 51 years and have built a family of five children, fifteen grandchildren, and now four great-grandchildren. All of them knew that Dad or Grandpa was the person to ask when they needed help hauling furniture, remodeling a bathroom, or navigating life. After completing his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University, Paul completed his Master of Urban Planning at Harvard University. He found his professional purpose as a city planner for Ogden, Draper, and Provo cities. His colleagues knew him as a man of absolute integrity who cared deeply about the communities he helped shape. Even into retirement, Paul loved helping people turn their homes into beautiful parts of a greater whole. He was a man of tremendous faith. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Paul served as bishop of the Ogden 52nd Ward, as a stake presidency counselor in the Draper Utah Stake, and in many other callings, most recently as a temple worker alongside Vickie in the Draper Utah Temple. As a young man he served an LDS mission in Austria, and later he and Vickie served together in the Russia St. Petersburg Mission. The pair also served closer to home in service missions with African refugees and family history work. Together, Paul and Vickie helped launch the MyHometown initiative, which has since grown to include four cities in Utah. It’s almost impossible to summarize a man who found joy in so many things. Paul approached life with curiosity, creativity, and kindness. He enjoyed trivia and puzzles, delighted in harmless jokes, and always saw the humorous side of situations. His hobbies included woodworking, stained glass art, DIY home projects, rock hounding, traveling, and camping. He planned friend and family reunions, and loved supporting people in their personal growth. More than anything, Paul loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith guided every decision and filled his home with purpose and peace. Those who knew him best saw the gospel reflected not just in his words but in how he lived with humility, service, thoughtfulness, and a twinkle in his eye. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Betty Glauser, and his sister, Susie Glauser. He is survived by his wife, Vickie; their children Mary (Kent) White, Christy (Nate) Boden, Carolyn (Matt) Mendenhall, Jacob (Jenni) Glauser, and Jenny (McClaine) Wilde; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his brother, David Glauser. A viewing will be held Friday, April 10 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Draper First Ward building, 12353 South 600 East, Draper. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will follow in the Larkin Sunset Gardens cemetery.
