Bonnie Jean Stevens

It is with a sense of joy for a life well-lived that we bid farewell to Bonnie Jean Stevens. Bonnie passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 77. She was welcomed into the loving embrace of the family members that awaited her on the other side and joined them to be with a loving Father in Heaven for eternity. Bonnie was born to Wayne Melvin Frazee & Betty Louise Bowman on February 15th, 1948. After the passing of Wayne when Bonnie was a young child, Bonnie was raised by her mother and stepfather George Charles Laipple. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Barbara Sue Frazee and Phyllis Frazee. After moving to El Paso in 1969, Bonnie met David Earl Stevens at church and they were engaged after 6 days and married 6 months later on Jan 23,1970, in Mesa Arizona Temple. They enjoyed 55 years together until her passing. They had many adventures together and would often be planning their next trip, or their next visit to the theater for a musical. Bonnie lived a full life with many achievements. Along with raising her family, Bonnie owned a bakery while in Roswell, New Mexico. She was a successful bookkeeper for many years. She was very accomplished in this field. Having worked for Jerry Sharpe for 35 years, and H & R Block until she retired in in 2019. Then had her own tax preparation business until 2023. Bonnie’s love for her family was a force of nature: fierce, protective, and unwavering. Her sense of humor was a sparkling wit that could turn any moment into a cause for laughter. Bonnie had a knack for finding the funny in everyday situations. She embraced life with an unbridled enthusiasm, savoring every experience, big or small. Even when illness nudged its way into her life, Bonnie met it with resilience. She refused to let it dim her light for long, always finding her way back to joy and connection. Bonnie’s passions included baking and sewing. Her kitchen was often flour- dusted and filled with the sweet scent of delicious confections. Bonnie’s creations were made with love and shared generously. Similarly, her nimble fingers worked wonders with fabric and thread. Countless baby blankets were lovingly stitched during Bonnie and Dave’s many road trips. A tangible expression of her affection that she delighted in bestowing upon each new arrival. Bonnie cherished good food and the camaraderie that came with sharing a meal with family and friends. Game nights were a highlight, where her competitive spirit shone brightly. She played with gusto and was a fierce competitor, always ready with a playful jab or a triumphant grin. Bonnie’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and resilience. She taught us the importance of family, the power of humor, and the beauty of embracing life with open arms. Though her physical presence is gone, the warmth of her love and the echoes of her laughter will continue to guide and comfort us. Bonnie is survived by husband Dave Stevens, her children: Tammy (Alan), DeAnza (Perry), Paul (Kim), and Kimberlee, 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and her siblings Melvin Frazee, Karl Laipple and JoAnn Ortwein. A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held on May 2nd, 2025, at 2:00pm at Riverton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, share a good laugh with someone you love, bake a favorite treat for your family, or simply embrace life with the same zest that she did.
