Donald Edward Siddall

Donald Edward Siddall, 57, passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with ALS and dementia. Born on July 12, 1968, in Portland, Oregon to Barbara and Donald Siddall, Don—known as "Donnie" to his family and simply "Don" to everyone else—lived a life defined by hard work, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family. On June 29, 1991, he married the love of his life, Christine Catherine Albrecht, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Southeast Portland. Together they shared nearly 35 years of marriage, building a life rich with love, friendship, and cherished memories. As a young man, Don was athletic, musical, and well-liked by everyone who knew him. He played football, ran track, played the violin and piano, and possessed a quiet confidence that naturally drew people to him. Though he never sought the spotlight, he had a gift for making genuine connections and maintaining friendships throughout his life. Many of his friendships lasted decades and became more like family. In 1994, Don and Christie purchased their first home in Southeast Portland, where they welcomed their son, Justin. With Taylor on the way, the family moved to Happy Valley in 1998, where they spent the next 27 years raising their children, building lifelong friendships, and creating countless family traditions before relocating to Utah in May 2025. Don earned an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology from Mount Hood Community College and later pursued studies in Mechanical Engineering at Portland State University. He began his career performing accident reconstruction for Engineering Dynamics, Inc. before joining UPS as a Quality Logistics Engineer. Over the course of 25 years, he built a respected career before retiring in June 2024. Before settling into his professional career, Don spent time working on the pit crew for Straight Line Auto Body Shop's racing team, combining his love of mechanics with his passion for teamwork and problem-solving. Outside of work, Don was happiest when he was outdoors. He was an avid deer and elk hunter who proudly harvested his first elk in 2015. With Christie's hesitant blessing, the European mount found a permanent place in their home, serving as a reminder of one of his favorite accomplishments and adventures. Don had a lifelong love of skiing, and some of his happiest days were spent on the slopes of Mount Hood in Oregon. The mountain became a special place where he created countless memories with family and friends over the years. He especially cherished skiing with his children, Justin and Taylor, sharing with them a passion that brought him so much joy throughout his life. Whether carving fresh tracks with family, skiing alongside his best friend, Stuart Holgate, his brother-in-law, Gary Albrecht, and his nephew, Henri Albrecht, or simply enjoying a day in the mountains, Don felt most at home on the snow. His love of skiing became one of the many gifts he passed down to those he loved, including his granddaughter Skylar, whom he proudly taught to ski. Don loved to cook and share meals with the people he loved. His pulled pork was a family favorite, and his biscuits and gravy became a tradition that everyone looked forward to. Whether smoking meat for a gathering or preparing breakfast for his family, Don's generosity and love were often expressed through food and the time spent around the table together. Don was known for his storytelling and his ability to turn ordinary memories into unforgettable tales. He loved reminiscing about childhood adventures and family experiences, sharing them with such colorful detail and enthusiasm that family and friends could easily picture every scene. Through his stories, he kept memories alive and brought people together. In 2018, Don and Christie purchased a 34-foot Grand Design travel trailer and embraced a new chapter of adventure. Whether glamping with friends, exploring new destinations, or relaxing around a campfire with loved ones, Don treasured every opportunity to make memories with those closest to him. One of the greatest joys of Don's life was his family. He was incredibly proud of his son, Justin, and never missed an opportunity to celebrate his accomplishments. As a firefighter for American Fork City, Justin had Don's complete admiration and support. Don loved hearing stories from the firehouse and eagerly joined ride-alongs whenever he could, wanting to experience firsthand the profession his son loved. Don shared a special bond with his daughter, Taylor. He was her coach, teacher, and biggest supporter throughout her life. When Taylor didn't make the varsity soccer team during her senior year, Don stepped in and coached an 18-year-old co-ed team so she could continue playing the game she loved. He encouraged her curiosity, taught her skills that many would consider "boy jobs," and was always just a phone call away when she needed advice about her car, the weather, or the best route home from Bend. He took a genuine interest in her life, celebrating her accomplishments, supporting her through challenges, and always making her friends feel welcome. Through his example, Taylor developed a lifelong love of learning and problem-solving—qualities that remain among the many gifts her father gave her. In May 2025, Don and Christie fulfilled a dream of moving to Utah, where they built a home just minutes away from Justin, Sidney, Skylar, and Harvey. The move allowed Don to spend precious time with his growing family and be close to his grandchildren. In October 2025, Taylor moved into the family home to help care for her father as his health declined. Together, the family embraced this challenging season of life by completing things on his bucket list: taking a cruise to Alaska, skiing with Wasatch Adaptive Sports and watching Skylar score her first goal at her first ever soccer game; memories the family will cherish forever. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Christine Siddall; his children, Justin and Taylor Siddall; his daughter-in-law, Sidney Siddall; his cherished grandchildren, Skylar and Harvey Siddall; his parents, Barbara and Donald Siddall; his sister, Victoria Carlin, her husband, Ed Carlin, and their son, Luke Carlin; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20th at 1:00 PM at Springhouse Village Clubhouse 6091 Sparrow View Dr, South Jordan UT 84009.
