Harold "Hank" Morris Brown

Harold “Hank” Morris Brown (73) Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on October 20, 2022. Hank was born in Kansas on September 19th, 1949, to Harrison Morris Brown and Lucille Kitson Brown. He was the middle child with an older sister Patsy (Richard) Buchi and younger brother Jimmy Brown. The family moved from Kansas to West Jordan, Utah. Hank graduated from Skyline High School. Hank is preceded in death by his parents, brother and several special dogs. In 1976, Hank met the love of his life Diane. They were married on April 13, 1979; made their life in Kearns, Utah and had three children Becky Lee (Bill) Geist, Harold Dallas (Kim) Brown, and Alysha Diane Brown. Hank was also a proud Papa to 7 grandchildren; McKenzie, Murray, Kelly, Micah, Kaylee, Connor, Parker and 3 grand dogs; Tak, Abby and Scotland. Hank took great pride in everything he did and loved being a dad. Christmas time was one of his favorite times of the year and he always went above and beyond to make it special for his kids. Hank loved camping, fishing, traveling and cruising. He always had a story to tell around the campfire (or anywhere!) and could always make anyone laugh. He loved animals and especially his shih tzu’s, Nukkie, Miaggi, Theodore and Alvin. He enjoyed Nascar and traveling in his RV. Hank took great pride in his vehicles and having a beautiful yard. Hank could fix anything he set his mind to. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it with no questions asked and nothing expected in return. In Hanks' career life he began working for Kennecott Copper Mine as a Locomotive Train Engineer. He loved to drive trains and often talked about it through the years. After 20 years at Kennecott Hank decided to retire and go back to school at 40 years old. Hank started working for Salt Lake City Corporation to support his family of 5, working days and going to school at night. He graduated with honors in 1989 with an Applied Science Degree majoring in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Hank would later tell stories of how his children helped him with his homework. Hanks’ degree helped to advance his career within Salt Lake City Corporation, where he became a Water Treatment Plant Operator at the Big Cottonwood Canyon Water Treatment Plant making drinking water for the Salt Lake Valley, until he retired in 2012. Throughout his career, Hank sustained several workplace injuries that left him in chronic pain. However, he always continued to work hard, and his motto was “I refuse to lose.” In his last days, Hank reflected a lot on his life and how proud he was of his marriage of 43 years. How proud he was of his children and how being a dad was the best job he ever had. Hank was a friend to everyone and had a special talent for making people feel like they were old friends. Hank would never want any tears cried over him but instead would love good food, our favorite stories, lots of laughs and our glasses raised in his honor. We plan to honor him exactly that way. Dad, we are happy you are no longer bound to the body that kept you in pain and from doing everything you wanted. Get your boat and fish in endlessly perfect weather and be with so many wagging tails that have been waiting for you to get there so they could give you lots of love and licks! We will work our hardest to keep making you proud. Thank you for the extraordinary life you gave us.
