Hilamani Kaleo Wolfgramm

Hilamani Kaleo Wolfgramm, 44, beloved son, uncle, and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the IMC Hospital, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, after a long, hard-fought battle with FTAAD (Familial Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection). He was born in Neiafu, Vava’u, Tonga, on June 17, 1981, to the late Efalame and Meleseini Wolfgramm. Hilamani was affectionately known as “Efalame” or “Lame,” taking the name of his father who passed away when Hilamani was just eight weeks old. Although he didn’t have a family of his own, Hilamani was a strong family man who cared deeply for his nieces and nephews and spoiled them often. He was the fun uncle who hosted sleepovers, was a part of their gamer circle, spoiling them with gifts, and didn't miss a birthday. He loved to bake his specialty cakes for them: chocolate oreo or guava cake. He was fond of collecting and reading books about history, biographies of historical figures, an avid gamer, and a talented visual artist. Hilamani was employed by Beehive Clothing for 16 years where he was a sewing machine operator in the day and night shifts. Prior to Beehive Clothing, he was employed by Delta Airlines, where he got to travel all over the world. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hilamani was health-conscious, fond of mountain biking on trails, working out and eating a strict vegan diet. In September of 2018, at the age of 37, he suffered his first aortic dissection. Later that year, a test confirmed that he and other family members carried the ACTA2 genetic mutation, a condition that affects the smooth muscles of the aorta, causing it to become brittle and susceptible to tears and aneurysms. He would eventually undergo three major operations to repair the tears in his aorta, living the remainder of his life in and out of hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. Hilamani is survived by his mother, Meleseini, his brothers Karl (Lasa), Richard, Tony (Doris); his sisters, Adiloa (Kengike) and Viola (Ilaisa); nephews Laveatu’u, Ricky, Efalame, Lolo, ‘Aho, Ma’afu, Hilamani, Vake; nieces Telesia, Daphne, Hina, Seini, Uini, Juliet, Leisinia, Leafaitulagi, Heilala T., Sophia, Takuilau, Heilala V., Andilewa; and grandnephews Tulifaukiave, Ezio and grandniece, Silivia. He was preceded in death by his father, Efalame Karl Fredrick Wolfgramm and his older sister, Takuilau Wolfgramm Vaiomo’unga (Nolo).
