In Loving Memory of Jorge Antonio Sagastume April 16, 1956 – September 8, 2025 Jorge Antonio Sagastume, age 69, passed away on September 8, 2025, in Murray, Utah. He was born on April 16, 1956, in Salamá, Baja Verapaz, Guatemala, to Juan Antonio Sagastume and Celia Concepcion Robles. Jorge was formerly married to Hiliana Coronado, with whom they shared the joy of raising two beloved daughters, Olivia and Celia. Later in life, he found lasting companionship and love in marriage to Maria Angela Sagastume, with whom they shared two sons, Briayan and Anthony, and a daughter, Nicole. Jorge was a supportive, intelligent, and a deeply compassionate man, strong in both mind and body. He carried a quiet wisdom and had a gift for listening, always knowing just the right thing to say. His sense of humor lit up every room, and his contagious laugh often left us all laughing with him. He had a remarkable way of making others feel seen, heard, and loved. He had a strong desire for learning and discovering new places. Though he lived simply, he saw the world with open eyes and embraced life with an open heart. He was never afraid to try something new, whether good or bad, as he believed in living life fully and without fear. Family was everything to Jorge. His love for his wife was profound, steadfast, unwavering, and true. He was a devoted father who always put his children first, striving to provide them with the opportunities he never had. He worked tirelessly to ensure their lives were filled with love, stability, and hope. He was hands-on in every way, always trying to fix what was broken, whether it was something around the house or a moment in our lives that needed mending. As the only son among eight sisters, Jorge embraced the role of a loving and dedicated guide, always supporting their well-being. Their daily conversations were cherished moments, filled with laughter, jokes, and heartfelt check-ins that strengthened their close bond and reflected the deep love he had for his sisters. His love extended beyond people. His loyal dog Ronan (or “Ro-ne-ey,” as he affectionately called him) was his constant companion and brought him immense joy. Together with Hiliana Coronado, he co-founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping youth and young adults overcome drug and alcohol addiction. His life’s work impacted countless people. Through counseling, education, and recovery planning, Jorge brought hope to those who needed it most. He especially loved visiting shelters, offering not just food and conversation, but also dignity, encouragement, and kindness. He lived a life of purpose, compassion, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and, in our hearts, forever. Dad, we love you and we miss you. Thank you for being such a great example to live by. His former wife and friend, Hiliana Coronado. And a wide community of friends and colleagues whose lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support. Nació el 16 de abril de 1956 en Salamá, Baja Verapaz, Guatemala, hijo de Juan Antonio Sagastume y Celia Concepción Robles. Jorge estuvo anteriormente casado con Hiliana Coronado, con quien compartió la dicha de criar a dos queridas hijas, Olivia y Celia. Con el paso del tiempo, encontró una compañía duradera en su matrimonio con María Ángela Sagastume, con quien compartió dos hijos, Briayan y Anthony, y una hija, Nicole. Jorge fue un hombre servicial, inteligente y profundamente compasivo, fuerte tanto de mente como de cuerpo. Poseía sabiduría y un don de escucha, siempre sabiendo decir lo justo en el momento indicado. Su sentido del humor iluminaba cualquier lugar, y su risa contagiosa nos hacía reír a todos con él. Tenía una habilidad especial para hacer que los demás se sintieran vistos, escuchados y amados. Sentía una gran pasión por aprender y descubrir nuevos lugares. Aunque vivía con sencillez, veía el mundo con ojos abiertos y abrazaba la vida con un corazón generoso. Nunca tuvo miedo de intentar algo nuevo, fuera bueno o malo, pues creía en vivir plenamente y sin temor. Para Jorge, la familia lo era todo. Su amor por su esposa fue profundo, firme, inquebrantable y sincero. Fue un padre dedicado que siempre puso a sus hijos primero, esforzándose por brindarles las oportunidades que él no tuvo. Trabajó incansablemente para llenar sus vidas de amor, estabilidad y esperanza. Siempre estaba presente, buscando arreglar lo que estaba roto, ya fuera algo en casa o un momento en nuestras vidas que necesitaba reparación. Como único hijo varón entre ocho hermanas, Jorge asumió con amor y entrega el papel de guía y apoyo incondicional. Sus conversaciones diarias con ellas eran momentos muy apreciados, llenos de risas, bromas y gestos sinceros que fortalecían su vínculo y reflejaban el profundo amor que les tenía. Su amor iba más allá de las personas. Su perro fiel Ronan (o “Ro-ne-ey”, como lo llamaba con cariño) fue su compañero constante y le brindó una inmensa alegría. Junto a Hiliana Coronado, cofundó una organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a ayudar a jóvenes a superar la adicción a las drogas y al alcohol. Su trabajo impactó a innumerables vidas. A través de la consejería, la educación y la planificación de recuperación, Jorge llevó esperanza a quienes más lo necesitaban. Le encantaba visitar refugios, donde ofrecía no solo alimentos y conversación, sino también dignidad, ánimo y bondad. Vivió una vida con propósito, compasión y amor inquebrantable. Su legado vive en las vidas que tocó y en nuestros corazones, para siempre. Papá, te amamos y te extrañamos.
