Laurel Ann Ryan

On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, our sweet friend, sister and aunt, Laurel Ann Ryan left this earth. Born on Halloween, October 31, 1954 in Ft. Belvoire, Virginia to George "Pat" Ryan and Elece Straughan Ryan. Laurel developed a love of travel, music, parades, and the arts from her parents, and shared that love with her 3 sisters. She shared her joy of life with her longtime friend and companion, Shauna Winrow. Shauna stood by Laurel's bedside during this brief illness, before succumbing to cardiac arrest. Laurel spent her professional life working more than 43 years for LDS Hospital initially, then Intermountain Health Care (IHC). Her warm personality was useful in her career as she assisted with the installation and instruction of various hospital computer registration systems for IHC across Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. Laurel will always be remembered for her charismatic and friendly persona, unwavering loyalty, giving spirit, and her fun loving humor. She was everyones social director. Those who's life she touched (and there were MANY), will remember Laurel when visiting Disneyland, watching a Jazz game, enjoying a marching band, chilling to Jimmy Buffett, traveling to Hawaii, and breaking out a polka dance. Laurel is predeceased by her parents, Pat and Elece Ryan. Laurel is survived by her good friend, Shauna. She is also survived by her sisters, Patrece Ryan, Kay (Doug) Baker, and Megan Ryan (Phil Marsh), and multiple nieces and nephews; Sean Carter, Rachel (Aric) Baudek, Chad (Bethany) Baker, Colby (Stephanie) Baker, Kellan Baker, Max Baker, Kathryn (Levi) Winston, as well as great nieces and nephews (16), and great great nieces and nephews (5). A Celebration of Laurels life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Her music will fill the air, her photos will invoke memories and love, while lite refreshments and non - alcoholic beverages will be served. An open microphone will be available for those who would like to say a few words. A private ceremony for the immediate family will take place at the Valley View cemetery, near Laurel's Mother, at a separate time. The family thanks you for your consideration of our privacy there." Laurel treasured all of her friends and family. She was generous in the most valuable gift of all: her love and presence in our lives. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Laurel's name. We are completely shocked at the passing of our sweet, unique Laurel, and she will be missed dearly. We know that she will be busy finding out the life story of every angel in heaven.
