LeRoi Harold Stone

LeRoi Harold Stone, known to family and friends as “Stonie”, returned home on October 19, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born to Harold William and Mary Ellen Hill Stone on March 18, 1930 in Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Haroldine Storey. Roi graduated from Ogden High School where he lettered in basketball and baseball. After high school, he entered the US Army and was honored to serve his country on the Good Will tour from 1951-1952. He attended Weber State College and later graduated from Utah State College where he met the love of his life, Cheryl Palmer and married her on September 25, 1959. Roi had an extensive career in sales which included his own insurance agency for over 40 years. He and Cheryl also owned Stonie’s Drive In which was the hot spot for Bountiful residents. His personality was perfect for his life’s work for everyone he met became his friend. Stonie was an avid golfer and a member at Oakridge Country Club. He loved the outdoors and always preferred walking the beautiful fairways. Roi was an example of so many wonderful qualities and touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a loving and attentive husband and an adoring father and grandfather. He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at age 83. Roi is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl of 55 years, daughters Tana (Doug) Stowell, Tori (Wally) Beck; son Roi (Kerri) Stone and daughter Tara (Jonathan) Elggren; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Brothers Delmar Robert Stone, Darwin Leland (Diane) Stone, and Sister Luauna Best along with numerous nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for their loving care and especially the William E. Christoffersen Veterans Home for the dignity and respect they gave Roi in his final days. A viewing will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Bountiful 25th LDS Ward 600 East 1500 South, Bountiful, Utah from 6-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25th, also at the 25th Ward house, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Brigham City Cemetery.
