Loila Aotearoa Hendrickson

Loila Aotearoa Darrington Hendrickson returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on September 30, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on November 10, 1943, in Declo, Idaho, to Leslie and Lila Darrington. She married her eternal partner, Dale Hendrickson in the Salt Lake City temple on September 9, 1964. Loila spent her life devoted to her faith, her family, and to making those around her feel truly loved. As a lifelong and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings, including Young Women’s President, Young Women’s Sports Director, Primary teacher, and as ward organist for more than 40 years. Her love for the gospel was reflected in her daily life and in the way she cared for others. Loila was an exceptional cook and baker, known for her delicious meals, baked goods, and bottled fruits, vegetables, and jam. She lovingly created many wedding cakes for friends and family, and held countless family dinners that brought everyone together. She built her food storage with dedication and joy, often alongside her children and grandchildren, teaching them not only how to preserve food but how to build lasting memories together. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was the heart of the family. She cherished every hand made drawing, every flower picked just for her, and every hug. Her kindness, compassion, and ability to make each person feel like the most important soul in the room left an impression on all who knew her. Her smile and laugh were contagious, her hugs were unforgettable, and her love was limitless. Truly, to know Loila was to love her. Loila is preceded in death by her son Dale, great-grandson Henry, sister LaNae, father Leslie, mother Lila, stepmother May, and brothers Bruce, Jim, and Brent. She is survived by her devoted husband Dale; her children Beverley, Shelly (daughter-in-law), Scott (Heidi), Kim (Radford), and Tiffany (Mike); 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister LaWana (Joe); her brother-in-law Tim (Catherine); sister-in-law Julie (Richard); brother Jerry (Jan); sister in law Karen; sister Linda (Jim) and sister-in-law LaVae (Kipp). Services to celebrate her life will be held at the Brigham City 12th Ward, 139 East 300 North, Brigham City, Utah. A viewing will take place on Friday, October 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, October 11, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A family prayer will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be at the Corinne City Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., with a family luncheon afterward at the church. Loila’s life was a testament to love, service, and devotion to her family and faith. She will be deeply missed, but her influence, example, and spirit will continue to bless generations to come.
