MaryBeth Peterson MaryBeth Peterson was a devoted companion and helpmeet to the love of her love, husband Ted Peterson for thirty-eight years, married May 21, 1971 before he passed away in February of 2009. Also, she was a beloved sister, an Aunt, a special Mother to many, many, children she never gave birth to. She was a devoted friend and valued co-worker. MaryBeth passed away peacefully on March 13, 2018 in Sandy, UT. After successfully completing her earthly mission and was greeted by many family members, friends, and loves ones on the other side of the veil. MaryBeth was born on September 20, 1934 in Pleasant Grove, UT to Ethan David Peay and Anna Liza Williams, the eldest of three children. Story has It that she was actually special delivered in the Pleasant Grove Post Office. Her name has quite an exceptional meaning as the “Mary” was from her “Aunt Mary’ on the Peay Side. The name “Beth” was from her “Aunt Beth” on the Williams side. Sadly, when her Aunt Beth was only eight years old walking on Redwood Road in Salt Lake City dressed in her white Baptismal clothing, she was struck by a car and died. As a young child, MaryBeth told her father that it bothered her when anyone called her just “Mary.” He advised her to just ignore them, and it worked. In High School she tended the Stake Presidents’ children when General Authorities stayed in their homes during Stake Conferences. She felt so lucky to get acquainted with several of them. As a teen she developed close friendships and seemed to cultivate and cherish these relationships forever. Enjoying her classes at American Fork High School she majored in secretarial courses taking shorthand, typing, and dictation. After she graduated she even worked at the Bank of American Fork. Then enrolled in LDS Business College furthering her secretarial career. Throughout her many years of employment, she was a knowledgeable, talented, and efficient Secretary. One great niece was asked what was MaryBeth’s hobby. She replied, “taking care of others.” In fact, many family members of all ages lived in her home with happy memories always. One true story is told of a little niece staying overnight with her. This little girl was quite the tomboy with an unkempt knotted ponytail. Because of MaryBeth’s “so put together, manicured home,” hair had to be the same way. The niece received a new hairstyle that day. MaryBeth watched out for the little ones with loving arms just as our Savior would as she emulated Him well. Even in her Secretarial jobs she always dressed so exclusively, beautiful clothing, makeup, hair coiffured, perfume, always smiling and a very happy disposition. MaryBeth enjoyed riding in the Bronco with Ted up the back roads to the Cabin in the Uintahs. As one niece stated, “she wasn’t afraid of adventures.” Duke, was her treasured dog, an lotsa opsa she simply adored him. They spent many happy times together. Traditions were very important to her especially on Holidays and Christmas which was of course her favorite. Instigating family monthly Birthday parties, even hiring Santa and his little elf at every Christmas family celebration. She collected many boxes of decorations and had her nieces make sure to label the boxes so that a different set was used each year. Even making sure inanimate objects didn’t get their feelings hurt. Imagine how she felt for the human beings around her? She made everyone around her feel like they were the most important and most special person in the entire universe. A most faithful journal record keeper her entire lifetime, always adding the most incredible pictures, trinkets, memorabilia, programs attached to each page of three ring leather bound volumes. Many years of documenting her glorious life. Her greatest blessing was her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her devotion to our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ came first in her life. MaryBeth touched the lives of others who sought her wisdom, strength, and advice. She was a Temple Worker, Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Ward Chorister, and etc. MaryBeth was an example of the pure love of Christ with a strong testimony and conviction of the true Gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ. She walked the walk and talked the talk. MaryBeth is survived by her brother David (Shawna) Peay, her sister Deanna (Ron) Law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by her spouse Ted Peterson, and her parents. A public visitation will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Sandy Utah West LDS Stake Center, 200 East 8680 South, Sandy, UT from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Funeral Services will be held in the same building at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT at 1:00 p.m. Luncheon provided at the Sandy West LDS Stake Center 200 East 8680 South, Sandy, UT at 2:00 p.m. Serenity Funeral Home is so graciously assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
