Owen Heimuli Alo Ika

A man with a heart of gold and a smile to match, Owen Heimuli Alo Ika, age 54, passed away peacefully on the eve of June 18, 2016 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born on November 26, 1962 in Ha'akame, Tongatapu, the fifth child to Asaeli Alo Ika and Selu Loiola Uipi Ika. He married the love of his life, Etina Tuima on November 29, 1996 and was later sealed to her and their children in April 2003. Our dad attended Liahona High School and later served an LDS mission in Tongatapu. His last calling he proudly served as was the 2nd counselor in the High Priest Quorum. He immigrated to the United States in 1980 and was proud to become a citizen in 2012. Our dad worked vigorously in construction and landscaping to support his family and anyone he came in contact with. Our dad was also a people's person. One hobby he had outside of the home was to be with his friends and singing at the kalapu, especially at Lolopaongo. Owen was a loving, giving person! Even when he didn't have much to give, he would find a way to help and to serve others. It has been said of our dad that he would give without remembering and take without forgetting. Our dad is survived by his eternal companion, Etina, his father Asaeli, and his children, Sefilinga Mahealani, Kailiola Natalia, Kesaia Florence, Asaeli Alo, Roslyn Patiola, Tuitavake King, Lynda Marie and Mele Teresa Mo'unga. Dad is also survived by his siblings, Kailiola (Paul) Fisi'inaua, Sione Taliauli (Mele), Likeila (Monalisa), Linita (Isi) Tupou, Siaki (Anau), Sefilinga (Atimoa) Vaikeli, and Falakesi (Jason) Harris. Our dad is now reunited with his mother who passed away on June 20, 2014. We ask our family and friends to please join us as we remember and celebrate dad's life on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at the Liberty 3rd Ward Chapel, 2465 South 800 East SLC, UT from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Following the funeral service the burial will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Peni Malohifo'ou of Serenity Funeral Service Our family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff and nurses at the Woodland Park Care Center, the staff of the ICU unit at the IMC Hospital, and to the neighbors, friends, and family who have come to our home to express their love, condolences and service to our family.
