Ralph Dobbs

Ralph Lee Dobbs was born in Liberal, Kansas on Christmas Day in 1927. He died peacefully in his sleep, at home, in Taylorsville, Utah on October 19, 2022. Ralph lived a long and very happy life. Ralph was the son of Marion Hearn Dobbs and Della Myrtle Deaton. Ralph was a member of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He moved to California and attended Los Angeles City College where he obtained an Associate's Degree in Business Administration with a minor in General Education. Ralph was licensed in Real Estate Sales. He was an extremely talented General Contractor. Some of the projects that he successfully undertook and completed were, construction of roads, corrals, barns, mountain cabins, custon homes, room additions, apartments, several medical center remodels, concrete buildings and renovations of historical brick buildings in Old Sacramento. He was the Supervisor of Maintenance and Machine tool repair at Aerojet. He taught Heavy Duty Machine Repair for San Juan Unified Highschool while working full time for Formica. He was a business owner of a service station with an auto repair shop, auto parts store and snowmobile repair shop. He was an amazing mechanic who could fix anything. He loved his VW's and motorcycle's. He loved the fast lane. Ralph was a Mason, a member of the Elk's Club and Carmichael Club. Ralph was a self- taught, single engine private plane, Pilot. This was one of his many passions. He owned several planes and flew every chance that he could. Ralph had a smile that would light up the room and a contagious laugh. He had a zest for life that was admired by many. He loved to camp and was famous for his pancakes, he would make and share these with everyone. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting until he was 86. He was a professional ballroom dancer and he loved country music. Ralph had a great sense of style. Whether it was a 3 piece suit; some jeans, a flannel, Cowboy hat and his horseshoe shaped R belt buckle, he always looked dapper. He was an animal lover who had many pets. He had many dogs, cats, a hundred head of cattle, many horses and while he was in the Navy, he even had a pet monkey. One of his favorite pets was an Ocelot named Tango. The most important thing in the world to Ralph was his family and many friends, whom he adored. His family spent a lot of time together. He loved to throw Easter egg hunts and cherished when his kids would bring his grandkids over on Halloween to Trick or Treat. He was an amazing man who affected many people's lives. He was truly one of a kind. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Ralph is survived by his children Patricia Gallegos Murphy, Steve (Phyllis) Dobbs, Juanita (Alan) Drew, JoeLynn McLaughlin & Joyce Lee (Duane) McAllister; Siblings LT. James (Susan) Allen & Della (David) Spivey. 13 grandchildren, 20 great grand children, 10 great, great grandchildren; many nephews & nieces and friends. Lastly, his loyal partner, Ann Bishop. Preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Odillia DeLoris Valdez Dobbs, daughter Margarita Young, 3 sisters and many furry friends. Servies will be held Friday October 21, 2022 viewing 2-3 PM Funeral 3-4 PM at Serenity Funeral Home 13863 S 2700 W Bluffdale, Ut 84065
