He was born on October 14th, 1966, in San Jose, California to Jim and Katherine Cook, the second of five children. On May 12th, 1989, Rick married Karen Jean Cummins in the Seattle, Washington temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together they had two children, twins Ashley and Alexander, who were Rick’s dearest pride and joy. Rick achieved many successes in his life. He was an Eagle Scout, and after his church mission to North Carolina, he earned a Bachelor’s in Finance and an MBA from Brigham Young University, and was a successful business owner, manager, and cherry farmer alongside his father, brothers, and sister in Lodi, California, before recently moving to Utah in 2025 to be near his children and grandchildren. A stranger to no one, Rick blessed anyone he met with his cheerful warmth, kind eyes, and easy conversation. He was indispensable around the house, ever eager to fix what might be broken or build whatever he could dream up that might help his family. He was always down for a project. Rick’s trust in the Lord Jesus Christ was his anchor, and he happily devoted his life in service of his faith. He was glad to assist in many Church and Scouting responsibilities, and along with his wife, he served for many years in a young single adult ward in Stockton, California, where he touched the lives of all he ministered to with his unending optimism and encouragement. Above all, Rick cherished being surrounded by those he loved, and there was nothing that could bring him more joy than to see his grandchildren’s smiles and hear their laughter as they played in his home. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rick is survived by: his wife Karen; his children Ashley Cook (Jacob Johnson) and Alexander (Courtney) Cook; his grandchildren Cyrus and Thea; his father Jim (Sandy) Cook; his brothers Jim (Melanie) Cook Jr., John Cook, and Jared Cook; and his sister Rachele (Paul) Stiling. He is preceded in death by his mother Katherine, who has been waiting these many long years to embrace him once again. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at 2750 W 13400 S, Riverton, UT 84065, preceded by a viewing at 9:00 AM, and followed by graveside services for immediate family at the Riverton City Cemetery.
