She was 61 years old. Dofi was born in Kahuku, Hawaii to Puipuipuifatu Fiso and Ali'itasi Pu'epu'emai Malepeai Fagueli Fiso on May 24th, 1959. Dofi was raised "Parkside" in Laie, HI, something she took great pride in, a LAIE GIRL FOR LIFE! She attended Laie Elementary, graduated from her most beloved Kahuku High School in 1977, and continued her education at BYU-Hawai’i. Dofi comes from a very musical family so, it’s no surprise that from a very young age, she developed a deep love for Singing and could play many musical instruments like the Ukulele, Banjo, Guitar and Bass. For many years, she used this talent to travel the world and entertain thousands of visitors, while working for the Polynesian Cultural Center. “Aunty Dofi” was a passionate champion for her people and spent ALL of her adult life in service. She served as an ambassador and activist for the Polynesian community, even doing PSA’s up until the day she entered the hospital. To date, she has worked alongside many dignitaries and influential people, serving as a director, host, creator, and leader on many Events, Boards/ Committees, discussion panels, etc. She worked tirelessly to bring a voice to the Polynesian Community. Dofi was known for her being a “light” to all, she never judged and always had a way of making everyone feel special and loved! She was also very passionate about Genealogy- Her family was very important to her, she was related to everyone! She held many titles, a Wife, Mother, Sister, Cousin and Friend but her most cherished was NANA. Her grandbabies ~ Zachary, Pryncess, Jadiahne, Xzavier, Cadin, Malone, Kimora and Baby Esau, Ioanah, Ioramo & Cruise Niko ~ they were her heart! Dofi is survived by her Husband Jack Fa’asou, Daughters: Jonte Oliana Fa’asou, Naomi Uga'itafa (Esau), Ali'itasi Ioane (Matai), Brianna Leuga Sons: Tony Paiali’i, Zechariah Broederlow & Ma’o Niko (Mira) Siblings: Puifatu Fiso Jr. (Dot), Tigi Terry, and Tolovae Tito (Taua.) She is preceded in death by her Parents: Puipuipuifatu and Ali'itasi Fiso, Siblings: Lemautofi Baker (Elbert), Ulutolo (Uli Fe'esago Jr.), Oliana Tuia (Po'a), Cyrene Autumn “Luana” and Tony (Margaret). Many special thanks and blessings to all our family, friends and especially to her Intermountain Utah Dialysis Center Family-the staff, Nurses/ Techs and Doctors- we are so grateful for your tender care given to our dear mother for the past 11 years. Her beautiful talents, her nurturing demeanor and LOVE FOR ALL will truly be missed. Funeral services will take place Saturday, Nov. 7th at the LDS Mapusaga Samoan Ward Chapel, 3970 S. 5200 W., West Valley City, Utah. Family service & Viewing will be from 10 am – 12pm. Final funeral service will be 12-1pm. Dofi will be laid to rest at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery 6500 S. Redwood Rd- Taylorsville. Mortuary Services entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home.
