Tod Francis Levie

Tod Francis Levie, 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on July 4. He was born August 8, 1961, in Salt Lake City to Charles and Barbara Levie. He was previously married to Denise Oliphant, and they later divorced. On June 21, 2002, he married Lorie Levie in Salt Lake City. Though they had separated, they remained legally married. Tod had a way of looking at life that was uniquely his. He had an unforgettable sense of humor and could make an entire room laugh without even trying. He was a gifted storyteller, the kind of person who could tell the same story again and somehow make it even better each time. He lived life in the fast lane, with a love for golf, dirt bikes, speed, fishing, adventure, and anything that got his adrenaline going. His lifelong loyalty to The Raiders proved he could stand by something he loved, no matter how many times it tested him. As a young man, he was a dirt bike champion, and that fearless, larger-than-life spirit stayed with him throughout his life. Later in life, when he needed to slow down, he found joy in golfing and fishing. He loved sharing his hobbies with his children, whether it was putting his boys in front of him on his dirt bike, baiting and unhooking fish for his kids even if it meant he never got his own hook in the water, or passing on his love of reading. One of his favorite stories to tell was about the time he caught a bird in flight with a golf ball. One of Tod’s most memorable qualities was his heart. Though some of the children came into his life as stepchildren, he never treated them as anything other than his own. To his oldest son, he was simply Dad. When he met Lorie, he stepped into a fatherly role without hesitation, offering love, stability, guidance, and laughter. Later, as Papa, he found one of the greatest roles of his life, and it was a title he carried with deep pride. He adored his grandchildren, loved making them laugh, and created memories they will carry with them forever. They never had to wonder if Papa loved them, because he made sure they knew. That same heart extended to animals as well, and he was known for taking in strays and even fostering animals and later deciding that he would keep them. Like all people, Tod’s life included both joyful and difficult chapters, but he will be remembered for his laugh, his stories, his intelligence, his adventurous spirit, his generosity, and the way he loved the people who mattered to him. Tod is survived by his wife, Lorie, from whom he was separated; his siblings, Mary Evans and Jeff Levie (Kim); his children, Travis Oliphant (Amanda), Alex Levie (Tracie), Mathew Levie (Kelli), Preston Ard, and Emily Brand (Zach); and his grandchildren, Oleanna Oliphant, Dante Oliphant, Tatum Levie, Delilah Ard, Wyatt Ard, and Kayden Brand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Barbara Levie; siblings, Charlie Levie and Ed Levie; daughter-in-law, Ashley Levie; and granddaughter, Kaelyn Levie. Tod will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held on his birthday, August 8. Time and location to be determined.
