Vernal Stanley Bailey

Vernal Stanley Bailey passed away at home on July 1,2026. He was 83 years old. Stan was born on October 19th, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho to Blanche Lusk Bailey and Vernal Facer Bailey. With his younger siblings, Rickard and Sharla Dene, Stan grew up in Arbon, Idaho. On the Bailey family wheat farm, Stan became very familiar with operating the combine, hauling rocks, and working hard to tame the land. His family enjoyed many stories about the wilds and weather of Arbon Valley; including the lonely task of guarding sheep whilst listening to the coyotes howl nearby and trudging to the outhouse in the snow. This is where his love for wide open spaces began, and his talent for growing just about anything. Stan attended Utah State University where he met the beautiful, musical Kenna Kaye Barton from Beaver, UT. According to his re-telling of their first meeting, he knew right away he would marry Kaye, although, she took some persuading since she was having fun dating! In December of 1963, they were married during a massive snowstorm at Logan, Utah. Kaye graduated from USU in 1964. Later, they both attended Idaho State University where Stan graduated with a B.S in Marketing. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in August of 1969. Stan enjoyed outside sales most of his working life. His laid back approach charmed his customers. He did not employ the "hard sell" technique, selling door to door with Fuller Brush as his first real job. He sold everything from spices to shoes to Dictaphones and computer systems. Later, he worked for multiple tech companies, namely Wang, Lanier and Novell, where he conceived and implemented the Gold Reseller program nationwide. In the 1970's, he struck a flamboyant figure in his plaid polyester sport coat with matching yellow or burgundy slacks and 2 tone shoes, and even a head of permanent wave curled hair! Even though he traveled a lot as his young family was growing up, he always made time to do special things with his 3 kids, and would do his best to show up and support each one in their sports and activities. He enjoyed getting back to the great outdoors in Idaho whenever he had some spare time. He and Byron enjoyed hunting and fishing trips, often with Grandpa Vernal Bailey. Fishing and camping trips to Mackay and Yellowstone were family favorites. He was a great bbq chef and wouldn’t let any snowstorm stop him from getting those coals perfect! He taught his children to respect and appreciate nature, and always kept a beautiful garden and yard. His grandkids enjoyed listening to his entertaining stories while playing pool and watching football. His sense of humor is legendary, and the family will miss his occasional off color, but always funny jokes! Stan is survived by his wife, Kaye; their son Byron (Marcie) of Salt Lake City; daughter Kenna Bailey Brinkman (Wes) of Boise, ID; grandchildren Olivia and Sophia Bailey; Aaron Brinkman (Amy); Jordan Brinkman, and Nathan Brinkman. Stan and Kaye’s beloved daughter Riana passed away on 4/13/25. Stan is also survived by his brother Rickard (Alene) and sister Sharla Bailey Kidder (Bill), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and three cats. Stan appreciated and had a reverence for life. He communicated to his family an enduring faith in God and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He gratefully acknowledged that his life had been preserved more than once by healing beyond the explanation of medical science. He valued the knowledge of an eternal significance to our existence and looked forward to being reunited with friends and family; especially Riana. To celebrate Stan’s life, there will be a graveside memorial on Friday, Sept 18th at 1pm at Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah.
